Runaway Rover

So we landed the Emu II rover successfully on Duna, though all the tires blew out in the process. Geofwise Kerman (the sole occupant) got out to change the tires. Once he'd repaired 3 of the 4, the rover took off without him! (Didn't set the parking brake...). The rover has plenty of juice, solar panels, batteries, and isotopic generators; and it's a nice stable design in a fairly flat region of Duna. Any ideas on how to stop this runaway rover and get Geofwise back on board? (I already tried waiting till middle of the night; didn't even slow it down)

It's off under gravity. Is there any remote control on it? If not, you're basically boned... gotta chase after it until it comes to a stop, which can be a very long time.

I had a Mun rover that easily got up over 40m/s and traveled tens of kilometers with no power (and even some brakes!). My bet is the Kraken catches it before you do!

Just for future reference you can get any rover you have to apply the brakes automatically via an action group. This issue was bugging me until I found that out. I had some attached via a docking port so, I made an action group that simultaneously un-docked the rover and applied the brakes, worked a charm.

Good luck with jet packing your way back to your rover, I suggest land in front of it and let it smack into your poor green fella. This technique worked for me once, before I found the brakes!

You can try to catch up with it. You can also terminate it and send a second one for your Kerbal (this time with a probe core). Also, make sure to apply the parking brake before you leave each time (press the brake symbol).

Edit: You can also set physics warp all the way up and hope that it manages to pop a tire or two.
