Solar panels not generating sufficient power

Recommended Posts

I'm using several add-ons, including RSS and RemoteTech.

My solar panels are not generating the stated amount of power. For example, the XT1 Mk2 Panel is only generating .14 charges, despite being stated as providing 6.9. What can I do about this? Is this RSS related?

more information would be useful :)

what does the solar panel say when you right click on it? where are you in the solar system? it could be an effect of the mods, or you ship could just be facing the wrong way.

solar panels energy generation depends on both their distance to the sun and the angle of incidence to the sun. so a solar panel at Duna will generate less power than the same panel at Moho (as the light is weaker), and a solar panel that is perpendicular to the sun will generate more power that the same panel close to edge on to the sun.

It may be a bug in KSP; a couple of times in .23 I've run the battery down while in full daylight and been unable to recharge or regain control of a probe. (Indicators say the panels are generating current, but none gets into the batteries or probe core.) Saving, closing, and reopening doesn't fix it; only going back before the battery hits "0" seems to work.

I am pretty certain RSS alters solar panel strength. Really quite certain. Check the documentation that came with the mod if you can. But unless im much mistaken thats from RealismOverhaul by NathanKell, one of the baseline RSS mods. Its not RT, that much im sure of
