Armchair Rocket Scientist Posted January 3, 2014 Share Posted January 3, 2014 At the moment, parts are not damaged or destroyed by aerodynamic forces (with the exception of solar panels). If/when a better aerodynamic model and reentry heating are implemented, the lander cans will likely be much more fragile than the capsules or cockpits.
