Fuel Duct Issue (KW? Squad?)

Recommended Posts

I don't know if I've found a bug with the game or with KW rocketry, or with any of the other mods that I have installed, or with the base game itself.

I have a system where there is a main rocket stack, surrounded by 6 booster stacks. The booster stacks initially have an SRB then liquid boosters in an "asparagus" cluster. The SRB's run out and are jettisoned in the first stage, and then the liquids are ignited, while the first section of the main rocket stack is still going.

I intended for the main rocket stack to transfer its fuel to the liquid boosters. However, one of those ducts fails to work for some unknown reason, leading to the liquid stack its attached to emptying first, before its asparagus partner on the other side. This causes an imbalance and the rocket flips out.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I've tried several different configurations, including: @ ducting to a drop pod or series of drop pods on the side and then into the booster stacks; @ changing from 6 to 4 around; and @ redoing the whole thing again. The problem remains that one fuel duct doesn't work. Clues? I'm happy to provide a .craft file as soon as I can figure out somewhere to put it.

Answered... Sort of. Existing bug.

There's a few reasons that could happen, the most common being that one fuel line is getting placed backwards. Another possibility is that the fuel line isn't connecting to what you think it is, but is clipping a solar panel or something like that. I had that happen recently, and it was quite annoying. Anyway, I'll take a look at it if you get the craft file up somewhere.

Figured it out... Sort of. It's an existing issue with the fuel feed logic.

Found this out through this thread: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/46747-Uneven-fuel-ducting-when-feeding-from-one-tank

I'm not aware of any fuel feed issues in KSP except that people expect it to work differently than it really works.

The description is here: Fuel Flow Rules
