Debris dissapear on Kerbal

Recommended Posts

Heya!

I try to land kerbals and science modules separately. Not sure why, but it feels safer. Anyways... Science modules get to the ground safely and than venish from Tracking and I can't recover my science stuff. How do I recover debris that were landed on Kerbal? Should I put some tracking devices or anything?

Best regards,

Jeez

Debris isn't shown in the Tracking Station by default. Assuming the debris did in fact land safely and didn't get too far from you and get deleted (debris further than 2.5km from the active or focused vessel in an atmosphere will be deleted), you can find it using the icons across the top of the screen to toggle the visibility of debris in the tracking station.

In the Tracking station, there's a line of buttons displaying different ship types. By default, the Debris icon is unselected. Left-click on it to see debris only, right-click to toggle it without disabling everything else.

Any ship will disappear (removed from game, considered crashed) when it is in atmosphere (not landed) below 23 km height and more than 2.5 km away from active ship.

Yep, that's right. BTW, try decoupling science about 3 km above ground level, this might save it from disappearing (don't forget to activate chutes though).

And you can also just take experiments using EVA suit and store them in command module. In that case science part can be just dumped for good, it'll save you a bit of weight since less chutes will be needed.
