Simulated Attack on KSC

I normally stage my missiles and bombs to fire in pairs, or quads even, helps with balance, if I fire two individual missiles at the same time and both hit the same building is that still two hits? Also what does successfully abort mean? I want to land on the runway after - is that a successful abortion?

Do something like I did or land without any engines running. Doing what I did you can get more points if you land within the different areas.

Alright. My entry, such as it is:

Okay. So because everything was exploding at the same time, I'm going off the flight log in the last frame. 1:56 was bomb release, 1:58 was the abort activation and the plane hit the VAB at 1:59.

I'm seeing three TR-2C impacts in the log. Two hit the Mission Control building and one struck the ground. Since I can't tell where the ground one impacted, I'm going to count it as SPH/VAB grounds for 2 points only (instead of Mission Control Grounds for 10). Couldn't say what happened to the other five weapons; they may have impacted with one another, so no score there.

So I break down my scoring as follows:

2 Confirmed Mission Control Hits: 40 Points

1 Confirmed VAB/SPH Grounds Hits: 2 points

8 Weapons: x1

One Run: x2

TOTAL SCORE: 84 POINTS

I am willing to make another run if necessary - it's hard to get the scoring screenies and pull out of the attack run at the same time...

Looking at the log I'm amazed Thomemy survived.

I had a go with some ancient Kerbal technology upgraded with more recent weapons (Firespitter, Skeppies mini-pack and KAS). Tweaked the colour and control surfaces in the SPH, scored 8 hits with 8 weapons on 20 point targets in a single run and bailed out into a 5 point land zone. It could be, depending on correct interpretation of rules, 160 x2 (one run) +5 (abort zone) for 365. I get the same points for 8 precision hits as ditching half the weapons in the SPH and just making 4 :(

NO, that's my plan!

With infini-fuel allowed, build a stonkign rocket consisting of mainsails, avionics and XXX * (decoupler + toroidal fuel tank).

the decouplers are bomb release, and the fuel tanks make a nice light but visible "bomb".

I estimate the limitation will be part count, at about 30 for structure and 1400 for bombs, that gives me 700 accurate bomb drops from a hovering deployer.

Easy to build, the only problem is.... 700 staging events! (well, 85. I would do an 8-fold symmetry)

Hoping I can bump this challenge without getting it locked by the admins for flagrant thread necromancy - with the changes in v. 0.25, ascertaining direct hits should be a hell of a lot easier. Moar interesting and 'splody too, I'd imagine.
