Great work! Any chance you could put the latest release up on Curse? I can't get it to work with the mod manager I use and have to manually install after each IR update which is a bit of a pain but I know it will work with Curse.

Hi, I just wanted to post and say apologies for not being active on this the past week. Been busy with real life robotics work for an upcoming deadline, so haven't had chance to do anything on the foldatrons, active struts, or wheels :(. Things should hopefully get better starting next week.

This also means I have yet to update the current parts to the latest IR version, to resolve mass issues.

Now to questions:

- I am just doing models, so you'll have to ask Sirkut about locking uncontrolled pivotrons.

- I have plans for a 1.25m hinge but hadn't specifically planned for it to accommodate kerbals.

- Regarding Curse, since this is a pre-release, I'd prefer to keep it local to the current downloads for now.

- There's no way I know of making the structural parts procedural without loosing their unique design. I'm not familiar with the module you mention, and am not that inclined to work on specific adapters.

Thanks

I usually refrain from asking about things that are pretty much specific personal preferences, but I feel I must ask this one: do you think the trusses might become available without the black wire thing in the centre? I understand them from a storytelling point of view - robotics have to be powered by something - but I think they would be more universal without.

Repost from my thread. Just having some fun.

I got a little bored and took a part that ZodiusInfuser made for the rework, chopped it in half and added support for the KAS magnet. Then, since it had EVA handles, added ladders to the yellow areas. Here's Jebediah holding on and enjoying the view. Yup, I messed up on the hinge placement. :) It was a quit rushed job to test the part. I was able to use the magnet to pull a satellite out, place it in orbit then Jebediah had his fun. The KSO is so easy to fly. Love it!

What type do you want? Length? Using only the reworked parts?

Well i need something that folded woudl fit inside KSO cargo bay.

Then i woudl attach it to station and grab modules from shuttles bay.

So the base would have to be KAS grab enabled? I can whip an arm up that resembles the ESA robotic arm.

Btw ZodiusInfuser. How do you feel about a part like the one I hacked up as a possibility for the parts pack?

Unless that was one piece, the KAS idea is a bust, take a look at some of the work on FLEXrack....

KAS only grabs the targeted part, not what's attached to it...

Wonderful, I was about to test it but you have stopped me from wasting time. Thanks!

I don't understand that, if you connect to a part with KAS (undocked) and move it with a robotic arm anything connected to that part will move also. The only issue is you need an EVA Kerbal to plug in the connector, you can get around that by firing the grapple though?

Can someone post some nice robotic arm subassembly file for space shuttle?

Im struggling with creating functional one.

Got ninja'd by Sirkut himself, but here you go: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14413819/KSP/ESA%20Arm.craft

I happened to finish that one last night. Uses only IR Rework parts and a KAS magnet. It's just under 6 m long, so it might be too long for the KSO cargo bay, but it fits perfectly in the side of a B9 S2 Widebody cargo bay. Should be able to move 20+ tons if you take it slow and have a heavy station. I've used similar arms to assemble my primary space station, launch satellites, and even add docking spacers to a probe. You can see a few variations in my album starting here.

Oh now I do like yours. Pistons, good move. I'll be using this one.

Well this isn't true. I just tested it to be sure and it worked. Kinda funny watching it bat the capsule when grabbed BUT the arm doesn't seem to work. It's a weird bug. I would suggest a small probe/docking port if you want to detach/attach to a station.

Now THAT is a big honor.

Seriously, you and now ZodiusInfuser have done some amazing work. I just have to hope it holds your interest for a long time so we can keep enjoying it.

I want to once again say that this mod is really great. Along with some quantum struts, I have been able to make a really cool foldable aircraft. I have another question about the rotatron though. Every time I rotate it using my action groups, I want the rotatron to stop rotating after 90 degrees. How can I do this? The min and max rotate don't seem to do anything, only for the Hinge Pivotron. Any help would be great!
