Any way to lock directional controls?

If find that if the ship spins or dircetion changes or the camera angle changes the controls for up suddenly mean down and right means left ect

I have directional visual impairment and once the controls do that I lose all sense of direction.

Is there a way or mod to allow the keyboard controls to compensate for this?

You can try to switch camera mode to "Chase" - press "C" key (or "V") few times. In this mode camera follows your vessel like in 3D shooter - then you turn vessel, camera follows.

Especially for docking maneuvers NavyFish's Docking Alignment Indicator plugin cannot be recommended enough. Chase camera is definitely a good recommendation, but with the plugin you won't need it as much.

For absolute majority of things, navball is all you need.

For docking, you can use chase camera.

For landing, there's no help.

Also, sometimes you can get better grip on controls if you switch to IVA view, and double click on glass. Then your can change camera angle with mouse right button pressed. It is somewhat useful when landing becouse gives unobstructed view from lander cans (1 and 2 kerbal ones).
