how many launches

Just wondering what your record amount of launches are in one hour mine is two. Is that slow and by launches I mean designing your rocket or plane launching it and getting it into a stable orbit.

Edit

by launches i mean separate launches not like one ship with 24 satallites

MechJeb docking = better bring extra monoprop

Depends. I CAN do about 5 launches in an hour. That said, I usually don't orbit payloads at parking orbit for the heck of it. There must be some purpose, which typically involves Munar transfer or docking, either of which makes the above number purely theoretical.

Not at all. In fact for most vehicles I have a hard time getting tanks that are *small* enough.

Really? Last time I had MechJeb dock for me, it took ~120 units whereas I could have done the job with ~40. That was a while ago (.21). Has MJ been updated since?

If you need smaller tanks, try a single spherical tank, which can be hidden and centered with these awesome little things.

Yeah MJ is much better with its RCS usage than it used to be. I don't ever use it's auto docking but I use the heading locks in the smartASS and they don't constantly bleed RCS like they used to.

Launches in 1 hour? Are you asking how fast can you launch and then rendezvous with something in LKO? If so then usually I can launch and rendezvous within 10-20 mins. But once there I tend to meander, looking at the craft from different angles, thinking why didn't I put that thing there instead, I'm not usually in a rush to launch the next bit.

[edit] oh, are you asking about RL time or in game time? my answer was for RL time, in game is longer[/edit]

I recently did a series of three launches into orbit, followed by consecutive burns for a grand tour of Jool and Eeloo. One probe was sent out of the system using gravitational assists while the other two used reverse gravitational assists (with a lot of recalculated burns, as I use RemoteTech) to fall into orbit. It was pretty epic.

Seriously, you have to ask if a mod has been updated since a version that came out six months ago? Yes, it's been updated, multiple times. Nowadays, if you use excessive monopropellant you either have a bad design (RCS Build Aid helps there) or a bad approach technique (forgetting to use Smart A.S.S. to make the docking axes parallel). Of course, the are situations where you can't have a decent design or an optimum approach path, but that's hardly MJ's fault. MJ does sometimes like to approach at too steep an angle, but I use Navyfish's docking aid to monitor the situation, and if it feels out of hand I disable the docking autopilot and null the closing velocity while still moving laterally. When the angle looks better, I re-enable the autopilot. (MJ isn't an easy button.)

in real time and just getting a ship into orbit

Shorty after the start of my career save I decided to launch a fleet of semi-stationary comms satellites. I did not plan well in advance, and ended up launching six sats to a non-stable highly elliptic orbit in a quick succession just to maintain contact with the first one that had orbited beyond the reach of antennas (yup, RemoteTech).

It was quite a bit like juggling, but I managed to stabilize all of them at the proper altitudes and with the proper orbital periods. It probably took longer than an hour though, but I did not watch the clock.
