Upgrading spacesuits/oxygen

Recommended Posts

Oxygen: Might seem like it makes the game too hard, but it will really just add another cool feature, as well as another thing to think about when building rockets. There are two new parts: The OxygenCo m12 and OxygenCo m24. Your kerbals use 1 oxygen every second while on a planet or moon with an atmosphere. Your kerbals use 2 oxygen per second on planets with no oxygen. Your tanks by default have 100 oxygen in them, which can be improved by upgrading your space suits. The m24 oxygen part come with a new Oxygen tech that is a second to last tier tech. Upgrading spacesuits is one of the highest tier techs which can be researched after you research oxygen. You do not recharge oxygen while on EVA, and the max oxygen a ship can hold is 10000.

Oxygen tech description: If we don't want our astronaut's lives to be a lot shorter, we will have to research oxygen.

Spacesuit upgrading tech description: We will need to research this to conduct safe flights to distant planets.

OxygenCo m12:

Cost: 1000

5 oxygen every 3 seconds using 2 ElectricCharge

The OxygenCo m12 looks like a green solar panel, with a small leaf in one of the panels as an easter egg. :sticktongue:

Mass: 0.2

Drag: 0.001

Crash tolerance: 5 m/s

Max temperature: 3000o

OxygenCo m24:

Cost: 5000

10 oxygen every second using 1 ElectricCharge

The OxygenCo m24 looks like the OxygenCo m24, but with no easter egg, and it's twice as big.

Mass: 0.5

Drag: 0.1

Crash tolerance: 8 m/s

Max temperature: 3600o

Upgrading suits: upgrading space suits let you go farther. There are 3 upgrades for them:

Refined spacesuit:

Default oxygen: 200

Crash resistance: twice as strong as normal

Color: Light grey

Cost: $10,000

Kerbalite spacesuit:

Default oxygen: 500

Crash resistance: twice as strong as refined spacesuit

Color: Orange with a light grey belt.

Cost: $25,000

Megasuit:

Default oxygen: 2000

Crash resistance: four times as strong as kerbalite spacesuit.

Color: Bright green

Cost: $111,111

If my math is right, the megasuit can withstand a 128 m/s impact? If so, that has got to be one of those overpowered things that just needs to stay overpowered.

Since this is oxygen, and not cryogenically frozen oxidizer, I would suggest that the suit slowly regains oxygen by being within oxygen-rich atmosphere's (i.e. Kerbin and Laythe).

Plus, when re-entry heating becomes a thing, Kerbals should explode if they overheat in the atmosphere with oxygen in their suits!

Good ideas! But I don't really remember adding an impact stat, so I'm not sure where you got 128 m/s.
