Boy, Did I get "crackenized"

Pretty much a smooth trip to Minmus;;; Landing not so smooth, lost one engine out of a quad set up of the one that delivers 30 whatevers. (no I'm not one of those guys who can do the math, or remember the name of the engine);;; Anywho, I transfer the fuel to the engines that are still good, (symetricaly ),so I can depart from Minmus, I EVA Bill, and He's instantly propelled to about 40 m, put on his back pack, try to go back down to the COM, and the screen goes black and the altitude is showing 777777 ! What the hell was that?!?

Oh , I forgot , I was also Doing about 9000000ms to the sun!

Bad luck.

Back up your save now, then revert the flight or load your last quicksave.

Other than that, there's not much you can do (except uninstalling mods, getting a better computer, or properly installing texture reduction packs/the Active Texture Management mod)

Generally that is a good time to exit the game and return. Hope that F9 gets you near where you want to be.

It's the hell kraken, and its liable to eat ships as well

It's a physics error, and has nothing to do with the design or conduct of your ship. It occurs sometimes when Kerbals exit a lander for EVA, while on the surface of a planet.

The only solution is to load the last safe save-state.

I'll just add that you can close the program and reopen it and see where your last "autosave" point is. If you don't regularly use quicksave it may set you back several missions by just loading F9.

Not only. I've lost some interplanetary probes that way upon switching to them. Or rather, would have lost if alt+F4 didn't exist. It happens often enough that I quicksave compulsively before each vessel switch in deep space.

If you have anything partially blocking the hatch, like putting a ladder too close, this happens often enough.

I had a ship and a rover eaten by the Hell Kracken when I linked the two with KAS. Bill walked up, attached the pipe and suddenly there was nothing left but a small puff of dust! It was actually quite amusing. What wasn't was when I bracketed over to the wayward ship and it immediately killed Bill, who was just sitting on the surface of Minmus minding his own business... alt+f4, rinse, repeat. c'est la vie.
