sub assembly's and root part WTF

It's pretty easy to work around. This is how I build my side-mounted space shuttles. After building it in the SPH, I detach everything from the cockpit, delete it, then add a girder, which is then automatically selected as the root part. Then I just attach the fuselage to it, replace the cockpit, grab it at the fuselage, and save the sub. It's really easy, it only needs some logical thinking.

Seconded. It makes things so much easier to create a module or something, then add a single random part where the module attaches to the launch vehicle, make it the root, and create the sub.

Thirded? But yeah, it makes it a ton easier.
