Unresponsive space-craft at random intervals

Recently I have been having a problem, that my controls no longer work after a while. The Kerbal in the ship is moving and smiling, the electric charge is sufficient, and I have enough fuel. Yet, I cannot adjust course Or conduct experiments. Is there something I could be missing, doing wrong?

Depending on where you are in the solar system (And what you were doing prior to this happening) is that you are stuck at 5x timewarp (Usually caused by not hitting the button enough) While it looks like everything is fine, you will have no control over your ship and will not be able to conduct experiments while warping. This is also an easy thing to miss as you glance up at the warp bar you see the two arrows very close together and think it's one, and in doing so miss the message telling you you are at 5x warp.

Another possibility is that if you mouse over the stageing list on the left side of the screen all the controls become inoperative. I lost a few Mun landers before I figured this one out

Just click anywhere that isn't part of the UI to fix that.

With regards to the issue at hand, it sounds like either an issue with not fully warping or what WhiteKnuckle mentioned.

When you say you cannot conduct experiments, can you access the UI panels that would otherwise allow you to click the (e.g.) "Observe Mystery Goo" option? If that is the case but you cannot actually see that button, then it definitely sounds like you're still warping...or the game thinks you are when you're not, in which case you have an issue with the game that goes beyond simple advice.

Probably a warping issue. Hit the "<" key several times.
