How many Kerbals do you use to crew various missions?

I'm still in the middle of designing my sandbox mode space program. I use the TAC life support mod and I'm trying to design somewhat realistic vehicles. So far I have a station designed for 6 Kerbals with a 7 Kerbal escape capsule. I've also designed a 3 Kerbal Mun/Minmas lander and a 5 Kerbal Habitat. What crew sizes do you guys use for your missions?

For short-range missions, I usually put just one kerbal in the ship. My interplanetary ships usually have a crew of 3, even though they usually have capacity for much more. The explorer ship should have enough space for 18 kerbals in its current configuration, while the cargo ship I have under construction will only have room for 7 kerbals (excluding any habitation modules the ship may be carrying).

I only have one kerbal staying at my kethane refinery orbiting Minmus, even though there is enough space for 20 at the station. The refueling base at LKO has similar crew quarters, but I have no idea how many kerbals I have stored there after they have completed various missions.

Jebediah flies alone.

Early in career mode, I just sent one kerbal. First in a Command Pod Mk1, then when it became available, the lighter Mk1 Lander Can. Explored most of the Kerbol system in that damn can. Must have been lonely on long missions like Eeloo. But while developing heavy landers for Tylo and Eve, I realized I had to mount them securely to the superheavy lifters that carried them to orbit. So I really had to use the Mk1-2 Command Pod, simply because it had a large base so everything fit securely. At that point I had the ÃŽâ€v to spare.
