[0.90] Kerbin Shuttle Orbiter System v4.13

The game is also crashing but it is once the loading is complete. I installed a bunch of mods at once and it crashed the first time. I then removed KSO and it worked as normal.

the other mods I have installed are:

Visual enhancements

KW rocketry

Enhanced navball

Mechjeb2

Docking-port alignment indicator

RCS build aid

TAC life support

and the tool bar one.....can't remember the official name

I installed KSO by putting all the folders inside the gamedata folder included in the mod's zip file into the Gamedata folder of my KSP directory

any ideas?

Well this is very odd, my game crashes in the loading screen, idk why, if someone could tell me why or if I miss an Installation, I would be rather happy :)

Btw, I dont have any other mods installed.

Probably memory issue. Try the low res texture pack on the first page. And if you have limited system resources close unnecessary programs especially your browser. Maybe download the memory reduction mod... no link handy, search for it.

is it possible to rescale the parts ?

rescaleFactor in the parts config files are what you want.

Edit: @Skipants see above

Gotta say I'm also not a fan of the yellow or the KSP logo on the sides. I hope helldiver decides to do alternate skins for the tug, but if not that's cool too.

The KSP Logo is there to stay, same as the KSO or the KSO Super 25. That's also a no on the alternate skin thing especially for this thing. It's not meant to be a prime mover or a command pod really.

I agree on the yellow. It was a joke really since it reminded me so much of a mining drone from Homeworld or like construction equipment (think Caterpillar). The SST is inspired by the various service vehicles you see in and around the VAB/SPH.

I must be the odd one out, I like that tug a lot! All the modules are looking great too. I gotta say though, it would be cool if that tug's KSP logo could instead adapt to the user's selected flag, as some LLL parts do. Just throughing ideas out, and thanks for all of your hard work, and putting up with all of us :sticktongue:

It might help if there was an official parachute attach point. Based on the way that things flip about in KSP when parachutes deploy, I can only imagine what the KSO would do.

There is a parachute point between the bottom two engines. Or there used to be.

Finally worked up the nerve to try flying this thing today, and it went great! Well, except the landing. I overshot KSC badly enough that I was still at 20km up when I passed it.

One quick question, how does the MechJeb autoland function work with the orbiter? Does it do well with FAR installed? Because I'm absolutely terrible at flying planes of any kind.

I actually like the golden yellow. Much better than the sickly yellow you changed it too now.

@helldiver : can we fix easily wheels on your "yellow submarine" ?

It would make an interesting rover looking like the Small Pressurized Rover from the NASA (linked to the Space Exploration Vehicle, extremely close to your small tug)

Aw, don't listen to them. It was great just the way it was.

EDIT: do the labs use the same texture with seperate names or are they all individual?

About the arm, since it is such a popular topic of conversation....

Can somebody in the know post clear and concise instruction on 1) what files are necessary for download and 2) what changes need to be made to what config files.

It appears that the arm requires the use of the Lazor System package and its has lots of neat parts and functionality that I am sure are useful to many but not all. Some of us just want the arm. I recall that the arm used to be stand alone but it appears that it is no longer the case.

Made one already going that route. While a fun exercise in creating and configuring a 6 axis articulating arm, it ends up being a bit of a monstrosity within the confines of the cargo bay. I was pretty proud of myself when it was done... then I moved on. No dis on Dromoman, that mod is EXCELLENT.

After looking at all of Romfarer's stuff I realized it was a cake walk because the necessary files are included in the standalone Docking Cam package which I had not reinstalled since last KSP update. Put the two mods, minor tweaks and viola', done.

Get the Docking Cam package (http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/lazor-docking-cam/) as it contains the necessary .DLL file.

Get the Arm package (http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/robotic-arms-pack/)

I removed the part folder for the Canada Arm to save space.

In the part.cfg for the arm, edit as follows (added text is RED)....

// --- asset parameters ---mesh = model.mu
rescaleFactor = .47
scale = 1.25
specPower = 0.1

End result is excellent docking cam and excellent arm.

I will seek Romfarer's permission to repackage and post to Space Port. If it's no, well, you have the instructions above.

Two caveats...

1) I am not sure how to deal with the end effector attachment point, there is an air gap that looks like it is proportional to the amount the arm was scaled. Hopefully some body will have input on this.

2) The oscillation that plagues arms and shuttles is alive and well. I've blown up a few shuttles.

i'm very sorry to be a pian in the ass here helldriver but maybe could you make a shuttle (or atleast the command part of the shuttle) not have the RastaPropMoniter? i'm a very big fan of this but it's just too memory greedy (even with the reduction pack and the non hd texture pack) for my computer... and the fact that i never do IVAs on missions :/

if you can't right now then please just keep this feature in mind ^.^ thanks.
