Challenge : The most useless Launch.

Here it is, the most useless flight challenge.

My entry:

Here is the booster, with and without the payload fairings.

This flight achieved nothing, and did nothing.

It went up, and stayed there.

(I was aiming for the sun.)

As you can see, I left it on Maximum time compression for quite a while.

Gotta hit something sooner or later, yah?

Sadly, no. I think I found the Lagrange point, but that can hardly be called 'something'.

What is your saddest experience of nothing happened?

I was working on a spaceplane that can drop cargo, ie bombs, boxes of rocket parts, and upon launching found it was so heavy, that upon getting off the ground so much fuel was needed to gain considerable speed I would crash after making it 2x the distance of KSC.

At least I manage to surprise myself on how much of my flights are more and more full of derp.

Winning is for losers.

This is a Challenge to make you, instead of going to the Mun and back,(Or making it a perfect orbit) to just derp around in space doing nothing for the maximum amount of time and with maximum amount of bling attached to your rokit.

Fail to win.

Surely I can... put a pod onto a stable 1M orbit, time warp to x1000 and <Alt+Tab> to another window... or just go to sleep.

If I\'d want to be anal about it:

Only if you were aiming for something else.

But I\'m not. If you feel like it was a really 'good' waste of time, go ahead and post it.

And it\'s still the most useless launch, I\'d be happy to include the category of the most derptastic launch.

I strapped 4 Omnipotent Berthas with C7 fuel tanks onto a default pod, turned the throttle up, and pressed space.

I didnt do anything else to steer and ended up on a near perfectly circular orbit around the sun

Well you\'re already going in an (almost) perfectly circular orbit around the sun on the pad, so that\'s not really too surprising...

It is supposed to go to the Mun, for some reason one of the gimballing LFE\'s somehow hits the fairing and explodes around 20,000m.

It was a triumph of minimal engineering. Jeb wasn\'t pleased with the new 'noise abatement' system, though.

Failed aircraft, somehow the engine detached and was still firing downwards... :-[

Only real use was a smoke maker...

I was trying to see how big of a lander I could safely land on the Mun, but I think landing something this big is just about impossible (at least for me, and without RCS); I think I hit at about .8 m/s.

It was perfectly stable, but after a while of manually wiggling it I was able to get it to fall off and roll around a bit on the ground with everybody still alive.
