Administration Building(s)

Recommended Posts

I think that what the devs have in plan for the mission control building doesn't really fit its name. The mission control building should be where missions are planned, and archived. Also this building is where the big mission control actually is, and based on the windows, launches would be observed by press and public.

I think a new building, or buildings, for management would be appropriate at the space center. This building would basically be an office building where contracts are signed, loans made, purchases done, and reputation managed.

Any related ideas to add to this thread?

Strictly speaking, the "Mission Control" building at KSC is modeled after Kennedy Space Center's Launch Control Center. Mission Control was handled from Houston's Johnson Space Center. And Procurement was probably handled in Washington at NASA HQ.

Still, the building itself is called "Mission Control Facility", and it's gui, "the Mission Control Screen". http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/68489-Devnote-Tuesdays-The-0-24-Update-Goals-Edition

Therefore, that should be the building in which the large mission control room should be located in KSP, due to the fact that having a random building hundreds of kilometers away from the KSC, just for mission control, isn't feasible. Same with administration in the Kerbal capitol city, it's not feasible.

Besides, having important buildings and facilities next to a launch pad where you launch large, dangerous, and explosive contraptions, is the kerbal way. :P

it actually does what Houston does. Launch is not handled from there, it's handled from the launch pad directly in KSP :)
