Some questions about building a Kethane Station/base

Recommended Posts

First, if this is in the wrong place feel free to move it.:)

I'm planning on building a base/station kethane setup at Duna. I've just started to use kethane, and don't know much about where it will flow to. I do know that the fuel lines have to be from the fuel tanks to converter, but i don't plan on using fuel lines.

For the station, kethane will be brought up from Duna, and transferred to the stations Kethane Tanks.

A separate segment of the station is planned for converting the kethane. This will double as the habitation segment.

Will this kethane be able to be stored in one segment, and then converted to fuel in another, to the be stored as fuel in a third?

If not, would fuel lines from KAS be able to fix this?

So could the Kethane from this

Be converted here

And then be stored here?

Notice the docking ports on both ends for the first two if i need to reearange.

And also, for the base, with KAS, could i pump mined kethane to a converter, to a connected fuel cell, from separate but connected modules?

Thanks alot in advance, i just want to make sure this will work before i get to Duna:confused:

I would put a small grey tank on each segment that has a converter (And maybe a small RCS tank or two if you plan on doing that as well) this way, no matter how your station is configured, you will always be able to refuel everything (Via fuel transfers, I suggest getting TAC Fuel Balancer if you don't already have it)

Okay, thanks. I never though of that. And I'll check out that mod too :D

Check out the Kethane thread, it has some useful links. I'm almsot certain there is one that tells you how to set up fuel lines, but it goes into more depth about how kethane flows.

Just checked that out. According to that, it should work. The one thing i'm worried about though is whether the kethane will reach the converter. I'll have to do a test tommorow. Nothing is placed radialy so that should help.

It should, and again, a slight design change will ensure that it does, just move the converter from the station core to the Kethane rig and problem solved.
