I've got no mods on my install, because, when I think about installing one (think protractor for example :P ), I don't take the hassle to restart the game, my play time is "optimized", sadly :/ it just takes too long.

And the next time I start the game, usually a bunch of days later, I've totally forgot about it, and then it starts again !

True story !

My general policy is to immediately install any mod which looks good.

EDIT: Oh, and I have MechJeb installed, but on my main career mode save, I haven't unlocked the autopilots yet, and I've barely used the info. And I've managed to do more than in Sandbox w/ MechJeb!

I don't usually use any mods. When I do, it's usually because they completely change the game - I tried Kethane a long time ago, I tried MJ for a short time (I got bored with it quickly), I've used various solar system mods, and I tried KSP Intersteller to see how the warp drive was. I've also used the various multiplayer mods.

I use a lot of mods because they really can add a lot to the game, in my opinion. Most of the mods I have are involved with Realism Overhaul, but others I have to give me more flexibility with my designs (such as StretchyTanks and Procedural Fairings).

I do have MechJeb, but I almost never use its autopilot. I like flying my rockets myself, and for this reason I do not have RemoteTech. I also have PlanetFactory for the extra planets to decorate my Solar System analogue (but I still need four more moons for Laythe [uranus analogue]).

I can understand why some people might view mods with contempt, but KSP is still a work-in-progress, and user-created modifications allow each of us to complete it how we like.

That is all.

I always start out a new version as stock, but eventually end up installing at least MechJeb (for the extra instrumentation and for automating stuff I can already do in my sleep). And, since I tried it, the docking alignment instrument mod. It's pretty realistic, yet makes dockings so easy it feels like cheating :). Don't really do part mods, although I love the B9 cockpits - the parts list just gets too damn big!
