How to make gimballing engines and surface controls?

Recommended Posts

You want to make sure that the mesh intended to move is named 'obj_gimbal' for gimbaled engines. What the corresponding meshname is for winglets I don\'t remember, but you can find that out by opening the vanilla winglet .dae file with a text editing program.

In both cases the mesh will rotate around the scene origin, hope that helps.

Really? Just create 'obj_gimbal', and it will work? Without animations, scripts and etc.?

You may even skip that object name and just set thrustVectoringCapable = True in part.cfg. KSP will rotate an entire mesh around (0, 0, 0) point :)

I dunno would it work for ControlSurfaces though.
