What kind of mecha design do you prefer?

Giant robots, they are liked by many men. But, this forum's lack of a thread regarding them was unsettling. So, I decided to make one which will specifically target the topic of mecha design. It was mainly because I was curious of what kind of mecha people prefer, and why they prefer such designs. Now, feel free to express your opinions upon this thread. For this is a topic which will not get anyone offended.

Battletech (MechWarrior), and more recently, those of Hawken. The mechs you use in each actually feel like hulking battle machines of death, while the likes of Gundam and Armoured Core are too fluid in their movement, and their anime-style (is this a good descriptor for them?) is severely off-putting to me. Plus...

Dat Shadowcat :)

Sure, some of the mechs in Battletech can move quickly, but they don't move as agile as a person would (or in this case, any of the two I've expressed dislike for...), and so seem more realistic.

I disagree that the hawken mechs feel like hulking robots. They are too nimble.

Mechwarrior is the only way :D (i never got a chance to play that xbox game with the massive controller and the vertical tanks...I love that name) legs that move independantly of the body? madness.

Chicken walkers please! but if i have to pick a specific model i would pick the bf 2142 EU walker, that thing looks like a tank on two legs. (The PAC walker was nice too.)

Humanoid mecha doesent really have much sense unless you are using a giant sword as your primary, but still it is unpleasingly mobile for something that big.

Now i see that titan fall does something in between where the body is a pod shaped cockpit with legs and arms, thats not half bad too but i guess i am a bipedal tank die hard.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
