Combine Designs

Recommended Posts

I have a few Templates that I designed for Mun or Planet Landing so when I start a new build I can start with the template and then create the new Craft on that lander saving time. Often I've built new crafts and I would have liked to import my Mun Lander to the new craft or vice-versa. I think importing designs to mate them together would be a really neat option. Does anyone know if this was already suggested? if not someone give me your take on this

Just be careful that your subassembly doesn't contain the root part of the craft (the first part placed during assembly), that can have undesirable consequences.

I use subassemblies mostly for reusing launcher designs. I have a variety of launchers rated for different masses to LKO saved as subassemblies. When I make a new payload I can just check its mass and add the appropriate launcher under it with a couple of clicks and be confident it will make orbit.

Thank you all this helps, I am still in the early stages playing with bottle rockets and need all the help I can get from the gurus!

You can use subassemblies for that. They can be found in VAB/SPH as the righmost black icon in the upper left corner. Tear part of your ship off and drop it on the dropzone to create a subassembly.

Thank you!
