thanks heaps. aerodynamics are tricky. when flying upside down during takeoff. it seems the wings want to get above the heavy fuel tank, so it spins around. I can alter center of mass of the fuel tank to inside the shuttle but that means the main engines will have to face toward the new center of lift. and that wont look right. also getting the textureswitch going in 1.0 isn't working just yet

Nice work on the unofficial update Mike-NZ!

I have completed the Space Shuttle Mission pack (mostly) however sadly due to some limitations in Contract Configurator I cannot release this until the official CSS 1.0.2 pack is out; since for the payload deployment missions (pretty much 90% of the Shuttle Missions), I require the total mass values for the Orbiter at launch and in orbit; the official release may have more parts / different mass values to cope with the aerodynamics (such as the split wing control surfaces)... Its a messy system but its the best I can do without devoting a good week or so to making a plugin extension (not a good idea with exams at this time of year) :(.

In the meantime I have decided to expand the pack to Mir missions and Salyut missions too... 235 separate contracts so far..

Your work sounds amazing! I cant wait to try it. I have to say I have been simulating these payload launches in 0.9. Its geat fun. In terms of waiting for the official release no one knows if there will be one so I will do my best to complete it anyway. I can get you the pre and post launch weights when the adjustments have been finished. I have the TWR to adjust and in terms of additional parts there may only be tha CANADARM to go on but that would require infernal robotics. I may gave to make it mass less so it doesnt lean the orbiter over during ascent, due to the games physics system. In the forum thread I have created I have helpfull people testing the shuttle and im getting feedback about its characteristics and what to change. So in the coming week it should be about right. I will try to update it daily for quicker development. In the meantime feel free to have a play with it. Mechjeb is helpfull as it will tell you ins current weight and fuel loads etc etc.

look forward to your mission packs.

Could some give me a guidance how to ascent and land the shuttle?

It is not really more complicated than launching a rocket, and you land just as you would fly a spaceplane. Though, if you are using the version provided from the first page, it won't be compatible at all with KSP 1.0, you want to use the fix from Mike-NZ, which is available here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/121748-Component-Space-Shuttle-CSS-ksp-1-0-2-unofficial-release-thread

Our guy from New Zealend ( my second favourite country after Scotland - from beautiful nature/countryside perspective) somehow gave me a little bit of his joy and enthusiasm so I am back to work on shuttle V2 :)

We have forward RCS with correct textures and windows made from glass :)

Are you working with Mike-NZ on this or is this a separate project?

No

This is completely new Shuttle. Made for Dragoon.

Btw this post will be a GIF heavy.

What animation I am missing ?

Landing gear -- check

7ex68Jm.gif

External tank doors -- check

RLDHuiC.gif

Crew cabin doors -- check ( placeholder texture behind doors for now, still trying to find some nice texture )

lqzd3OS.gif

Cargo bay doors -- check ( still need to do some texture and UV mapping adjustments )

zQhLEQ3.gif

OzEFPpE.gif

And as a bonus Deploy Antenna -- check

wRahZWV.gif

Btw anybody here with GIF creation skills in Photoshop ? Cause somehow all GIFs have light blue contrast and I do not know why. Maybe I had to check something ?

You won't give it to mike-nz he's getting a lot of work done. Last update I heard about dragon was gonna be a few months. The pace that mike is working it could seemingly be released sometime next week. And mike is doing a better job.

That's originally why I asked.

The guy is working day and night on it posting updates all day long for us to test and give feedback on.

Makes no sense to me to have 2 talented people working on the same project separately.
