Hi,

I like the rover, but there seems to a be a little numbering inconsistency. I've previously downloaded the Tropis (probably from the rover mega-thread) which I thought was the Mk10 - but the .craft file is identical to the Mk13 link on this page - although if you open the craft file (downloaded from here as "Tropis mkxiii.craft") in notepad, it lists the name as MkX, not MkXIII!

So... which do I have?

I get it... this is a clever ploy to confuse the enemy isn't it! :sticktongue:

The name in the SPH hasn't changed in some time primarily due to laziness. But after mk10 the changes became very minor(no more restructuring, part count only varied by a factor of 5) but each to a great effect. So essentially the craft is different but the name is the same.

This Rover and carry craft idea is super cool.

I love your work.

My Roves make 150km/hr on the mun .... how fast does this 4 wheel version go?

I'm interested because I found more wheels to be better.. like your original version.

I worked mine while playing career mode so had to unlock the bigger wheels.. and they are awesome...

On the Mun? Lots of inclines and declines(steep declines) keep the max speed above 30m/s, especially when diving into craters.

1500mm, Hmm, I stand taller than this and kerbals helmets just reach the top of the wheels*. You are the master of compact rovers.

*At least when I checked.

That's about right, measurements were taken with the panels and rounded off to the nearest 1/4 metre. Thank you(even though I've built much...much smaller)

EDIT: Just checking.

This little dude is just too cool! I've been looking for a vehicle design that I could use for logistics around the KSC and elsewhere on Kerbin, but this little guy looks like I could have a standardized rover for all environments. He might just have a recurring role in my storyline game, once I can get all my mods to actually play nice.

Good to see you haven't given up on this little guy. I've used this for a number of projects from base maintenance to reconnaissance and search & recovery. Fast and reliable. Speaking of, you should check out this challenge, the Tropis could probably make a pretty good showing, especially if you can rig up a little rocket assist pack for it.

Its great for a utility rover. Love all the attachments.

But it failed my stunt driving. Whenever I tried to do a hard turn at maximum speed the front wheel ripped off.

I moved the front wheels to a different attachment point and added 2 more wheels. That made it much more rugged for stunts.
