While we are all interested in phallistic missile technology, the current challenge is infiniglider. In order to post a challenge, you must complete the current challenge.

It does not look like the people has to much faith in a infinigliders chance to rise to the challenge. The powered jiggly phalilstic missile tech looke more like something people can get to point towards the sky.

It appears the phallic missile is all about being able to limit your thrust to a point where it does not wobble. Also, you need to sometimes turn off SAS to let it stop the wobble naturally and when turning, you can just turn the SAS off and let it turn itself and then turn SAS back on.

I am not going to attempt the infiglider, I've never felt comfortable with them.

EDIT: also, i am not using this ship to enter the competition because indeed the infiglider should be next in turn and therefore this... thing... doesn't count as an entry.

Ended up orbiting Kerbin with 0.20 units of EVA fuel. I am now trying to aerobrake myself and maybe I am able to raise my periapsis once my Apoapsis is below 250k... Propably not. I've been aerobraking for a good 120 minutes now.

Okay guys, I am just way too annoyed by this... please, let me have this one. For my fragile sanity. Otherwise I have to go at it again and spend another 2 hours attempting it. 271 meters inside the bloody atmosphere!

The challenge says "into a low Kerbin orbit, AP<250km". It does not say it has to be a stable orbit and there is no Pe requirement, therefore you beat the challenge.

GUESS WHAT! I went to try it again, screwed up my takeoff and tried to load a quicksave. It put me back into time just before I made my last attempt to bring my periapsis up on my earlier attempt. I tried it again, being more precise. Now... WOOHOO! SUCCESS!

You are, of course, correct. I realised after i posted that.

I guess I forget it isn't 70km sometimes, and your second attempt was well above 70km in any case.

Okay, let's try something a bit different this time. This challange will have very little rules.

Challenge: Beat everyone else with your rover. (don't take it too literally, we don't want violence.)

- use STOCK parts

- get a rover on minmus

- Highest speed done with the rover on minmus wins (starting from a stationary position, not taking off the ground at any point during the run)

- It does not matter how you get there, just the end speed of the rover matters. Must however be sent there without cheats etc. (During transfer to minmus, Mechjeb can be used, even the autopilot.)

- must have some sort of wheels (a sledge/sleigh/sled will not do) and a kerbal attached to it during the speed run

- No exploits

- no cheats or godlike mods

Highest speed after 24 hours from now wins. You can make multiple entries, for all I care.

(tell me if this format is against the nature of the game. I can make up a new challange or just let someone else come up with one.)

edit: is 24 hours too much? I suppose it could be something like 12 hours? or even less.

edit 2: proof of viablity; yes, you can send a mobile rover to Minmus.

edit 3: since it is your thread kahlzun, you can decide if this fits the thread. If not, you can come up with a new challenge. I am out of ideas right now.

Technically, you can set any challenge you yourself have achieved. I think we're all experienced enough to assume you can get something to Minmus without too much hassle, so sure.

Yeah, as long as its a reasonable time. 24 hours seems ok.

Ok, I got one up to 121.7ms before it crashed. Strangely, Jeb survived, though he was flung almost to orbit..

Alright! I got this one. I built my rover in the SP hangar and was too lazy to move it to the VAB so I just launched from the runway.

Launch! This thing is unbalanced...

Minimus transfer.

Malmal has landed. His rocket is beside the rover.

824.5m/s the wheels are still on the ground, but Malmal is having second thoughts.

880.0m/s the wheels have just lifted off and Malmal realizes he's not coming back.

Yep. Definitely not coming back! If he had the right phase angle, he might be able to land on Duna...

I'm not sure how to score myself because liftoff occurred somewhere 824.5 and 880.0. Maybe 850 is reasonable?
