Interesting result, SRV Ron, but unless the challenge specifies otherwise, it's stock parts only.

Jeb is supposed to be return safely. However, he is now lost in space waiting rescue which makes the challenge a failure. Anyhow, stock only was not specified, only the usual cheats can't be used, such as infinite fuel, and you have to fly the rocket yourself.

Oooh okay I have an idea. Take off from the KSC and land at the island airfield, with no form of thrust at all. You have to make a super infinigliding girder like mine. This may seem easy but they are by their very nature awkward to fly, it may only have control surfaces to deal with yaw and pitch, roll can only done by the pitch in a probe body at the front of the... thing....

This may seem easy but these things by their very nature are awkward to fly as pitch adjustments often cause them to speed up, so the challenge is down to finesse.

End condition is landed and stopped on the island runway, that is when your run ends and you record the time.

Initial time to beat: 1 minute 38 seconds (it is stopped in the last image, it just fell over a bit, causing the 0.3 m/s)

Default challenge rules say stock only

While now too late, this all stock got 43.7G on vertical reentry. The other post was for acceleration at burnout with the mod booster. Vertical decouplers used to keep this from blowing up from overheating during powered flight.

Edit, note, only the stack decoupler functioned. The vertical ones did not fire off.

Thankyou zarakon, I was trying not to make too much of a big deal out of the 24 hour thing, but yes: it's whomever replicates the feat first.

You should update the first post to make that clearer. The challenge this thing is based upon is probably familiar to only a minority of the world where baseball is one of the most popular sports. But it seemed like the 24h window was quie a success on the minimus speed challenge.

I am open to suggestions as to how to reword, i thought it was pretty clear

Also: I'm going to be overseas for a few weeks shortly, so you might need to manage the challenges yourselves for a little while.

If you beat a challenge, post your own! You have 24 hours from completing the challenge to post your own, or it will default to the next to complete and so on.

If noone has beaten your challenge within 7 days, you have the right to submit a new one, or nominate a new challenger to submit their own!

Perhaps you can add something like: The first person to best the challenger wins the challenge and can then post thir own challenge. Instead of If you beat a challenge, post your own

Well, I still don't quite understand the rules here but I've been trying to follow along. You guys are just too fast for me.

Since nobody else has tried yet, here's an infiniglider to the island. It certainly doesn't beat the time though. Although it's unclear to me if it's supposed to be faster, or just get there...

The challenge is no longer limited by the 24 hours, but seeing as he didn't beat my time, it isn't a winner! Game on chaps!

The key is to make it light as possible, you'll find if you pitch up and down aggressively, it'll accelerate VERY fast. If you guys really struggle that much to make one though I'll give you my craft file.

SpaceK531 entry looks good and if he is giving permistion for others to make up a chalange how about:

Distance using only RCS.

Monopropellant Only.

No liquid fuel.

No solids.

No Ion.

Electric charge and wheels are fine.

Unmaned is fine.

I dont think you can make orbit but if you can then we will use altitude. Other wise distace from start point.

To stop Infinite gliders no Control surfaces can be used. You may use a part with a control surface but only if its locked before take off.

Best distace after 24 hours.
