Does artificial gravity improve the reliability of life-support systems?

My thought too, however I don't think you would transfer anything other than data over it, if you have to transfer stuff wind in and dock.

You would have to be careful with winching in. Angular momentum and stuff. You might get very sick if you did that :)

Speaking of life support systems, does anyone know what's the world's most reliable toliet that uses little to no water? I know the first space toliet on the ISS lasted 7 years (which is long enough for one mars mission lol). I imagine toilets on naval ships are very reliable, but a mars craft or base isn't going to have an ocean to do the flushing.

The advantage of centrifugal forces is that you get to sling stuff out if you really need to :D

Although I do not think you would want to expel resources - even if they do smell.

The whole thing can very likely crash into the center part of the ship. The rotation would have to be stopped completely beforehand.

I think a more sturdy contruction or even a "walkable" structure would be better.

No dangling due to sudden movements, easier access to stored supplies, more crew space to move around, more gravity on the outer parts for the crew, less on the inner parts for easier cargo handling, seperate parts for the crew to have some time on their own. (Not only for what you might think right now! :P Although, have we ever discussed the more animalistic needs of humans during a prolonged voyage?)

The reclamation of the tiniest amount of water - and nutrients for hydroponics - in a closed system is invaluable.
