In Honor Of The Late Whackjob....

I think that's 100% graphics. I wouldn't be surprised if trying to get around the max physics distance by plugin would result in either disappointing nothings or massive explosions scattering debris across the universe.

the massive explosions scattering debris across the universe sounds like fun

On a side note, either in the wee hours of tonight or the day after, I may ask this thread to be closed. Reason being, my memory just arrived today, and I assemble tonight!

I'll officially be recatagorized from "The Late Whackjob" to "The Temporarily Inconvenienced Whackjob".

Let the insanity (and explosions) begin! :D Good to have you back full time Whack :)

Wasn't yet. AM NOW!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am now posting from Whackputer 2.0. Initial configuration is as yet incomplete, and it will take me some time to make sure I'm up to snuff via drivers and such... but yeah. I didn't beard-ESD-short the mobo. This is good :)

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool Try using that, sometimes during installs windows decides to whatever lets go with generic video drivers and sets the gpu as such. If you have video at all its most likely a software issue. Dont always trust windows for video drivers, it keeps trying to make me update to a known buggy driver for my APU. Your best bet for video drivers is straight from the source.

Not going to get too much into Kerbal for now. Going to spend a lot of time updating, patching, tweaking, tampering. But soon I start building again. Very soon.

Thank you for the support, all! You guys are amazing. :D

#EDIT: Just noticed FAR and RSS is still in there lol

Did you get your video card issues sorted out?

With vigor! I did download that utility, but it suggested the exact same file I already had running heh. Just seems I got the wrong one first off somehow. The DVD with the setup and drivers turned out to be useless to me for reasons I'll never bother to figure out hehe

Yea, those "driver disks" should be called bloatware disks, here, have a usb driver..... with 10 utilities to eak a miniscule amount more bandwith at the expanse of a gig of ram required to keep the utility on standby. Just curious, what kind of rig are you building?

Built. My old machine, I managed to kill it by launching a 6,100 part ship about three weeks ago. She was a brave laptop, but she gave up the mystic blue smoke, and accented it with the ozone. I put together an inexpensive rig, but she's got a nice card. AMD proc, 6 cores running at 3.3Ghz, 8GB memory, R7 260X radeon card. Running windows 8.

Hot damn, Im more of a Intel/Nvidia guy myself (better linux compatability) but that is a nice setup. How far are you thinking of overclocking, I pushed my i5 3.4ghz to 4.2 ghz with a 20 dollar cooler master, the case has great fan openings. I remember back in the old days when overclocking required math, now its one click in the uefi bios. Regardless, I cant wait to see more computer destroying designs (without the actual computer destruction)

Heres a great little lightweight program that will make it easier to monitor temps, processor speeds, fan speeds, and harddrive smart data. You can set it to log data and track it over a few days. http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php heres the direct download link http://www.almico.com/speedfan449.exe I use it every time I tinker.

Now that you've launched your first insane craft on your new computer, how does KSP feel preformance-wise on it?

Was quite low on part count. I doubt I even broke a hundred parts with that. So it's not quite a fair test.

Glad to see you back and I know your pain on all the patching/updating for a new rig. My general rule of thumb for building a new rig is budget about half a day from first power on to get all the critical things done, OS, security patches, service packs, driver updates, bios updates, major software packs and the like. After that its mostely useable although expect to run into something you forgot to install at least once a day for the next couple weeks. I tend to have to do it every 18 to 24 months or so either from upgrades or just geting fedup with windows rot and doing a format/reinstall of the Cdrive to pep the machine up.
