A simple request...

Recommended Posts

Often I will attempt to perform orbital rendezvous, but find that i timed the throttle incorrectly. This mistake can often be extremely costly in terms of delta-v, so I will suggest (in my mind) the solution to this problem.

AN INVERT X BUTTON!

This button will do, essentially, the exact opposite of what the "X" button does. It will throttle the rocket up in an instant!

So that is my request to you, the humble player.

Maybe try the options and change the controls?

I think you misunderstood there request.

The controls let you set a key, (default X) to instantly set throttle to 0, instead of holding the throttle down button (default CTRL) till you get to 0. The request is to be able to set a button, that instantly sets the throttle to 100, instead of holding the throttle up (default SHIFT) until the throttle reaches 100. There is nothing in the settings that let you do that.

Now that said I believe this is on purpose for realism reasons, you can't simply start something at full blast but you can cut the flow.

Yeah I usually emulate something like this by keeping my engines hotkeyed, throttling up and switching them on (for instance to calibrate maneuver nodes without altering my orbit too much) but this wouldn't help much in your situation, and I totally agree we should have this.

You can launch at full throttle though, and you can start each stage at full throttle. I'm sure you could switch off your engine by right-clicking or with an action group set throttle to maximum and then restart your engine to start at full throttle. It may not be realistic (although I'm not really sure) but if the game lets you do manually and it's useful, I think having an automatic setting for it wouldn't be a bad idea.
