Game reset question.

Okay I'm starting to crash on load, I have a few mods but there biggish. I don't want to wipe and lose all my science progress. Is there a way to like end all flights then wipe the game and reinstall it but keep the science progress I have? Like would removing mods from an exsisting files save corrupt the data? Kinda confusing if you need more clarification ill edit it in.

You can just edit the amount of science you have in the persistent file.

when you delete the persistance I'm afraid your progress is over, however there is an easy enough way to get the effect of your progress being kept...

1 : check how much science you have and how much science it took to get the nodes you do have, you can use this as a guide http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Technology_tree , note the sum in notepad.

2 : do your save/mod wipe/reinstall

3 : after that go in the game and start a new career, then close KSP and open the persistance save file

4 : scroll down until you find "scenario, R&D" (or something like that) go a few lines further and you will find how much science you have.

5 : replace the 0 for science to whatever the total of science points you recorded

6 : save the persistance

7 : go to that career game, go to the R&D, you will have a ton of science

8 : research only the things you remember getting (it would be best if you had noted them down aswell)

9 : get going with your ships and have fun !

Someone who isnt as lazy as me should check aprox how far down in the persistance the science value is....
