KSP: Rocket... Organ?!

Kerbals have spent their entire lives too busy with rockets to invent paltry things such as "music." However, Wehrner von Kerman's rocket test stand struck a chord (ha) in Jebadiah, who somehow saw the potential to use the rocket blasts to create the first music* in Kerbal history!

*not really music

>Nine "beautiful" tones!

>Nine terrifyingly powerful rocket engines!

>Creates pretty clouds!

>Songs are (vaguely) recognizable!

>By far the most Kerbal instrument ever constructed!

So, I would be happy to play songs on the Rocket Organ if you give requests. I can't promise they'll come out well, but hey, why not?

-[EDIT:]-

I've now created the Green Danube, which is a more-or-less terrifying cover of the Blue Danube, by Strauss. DECOUPLER PERCUSSION!

Enjoy :)

Hello! This is a massive necro, but I feel like it's justified!

Presenting: The Green Danube! Now, the rocket organ is tweaked to work with both 0.23.5 (which happened after the original post came out) and 0.25! It only blows up the runway some of the time...

I tried to match up the notes with the respective Rocket-Organ tones, but it wasn't done too well. Nevertheless, this was a lot of fun to make, and I'm actually kinda pleased with the results!

Enjoy, and let me know if you have any recommendations on how to make the Rocket Organ even better! (I used MedwedianPresident's suggestion of decoupler percussion on this guy. :))

Thanks for watching!

I heard once that there was one recording of 1812, on vinyl, where the explosions were proper cannons. It was so loud, the record grooves' amplitude caused them to cross four or five other grooves to either side. I think that would be what we call "unplayable". :P

If you're doing Decoupler Percussion, there's only one place to go. :D

I hereby humbly request a rendition of the 1812 Overture, on the Rocket Organ.

Oooh, that would be fun. I'll see what I can do, though I'm probably not going to post any other Rocket Organ videos for the next week or two. Peoples' ears need time to recover. :)

At that point, the phonograph probably wasn't recording the cannon blasts, but rather, the miniature earthquakes that they caused. I would have loved to attend the recording session, though I fear that it would have made me deaf.

Do some percussion music with it! I feel engine ignition, cut off, flame out, explosions, water effects, and other stuff could make an interesting mash up.

This idea reminds me tremendously of a guy named Pogo, who remixes movies and even games into short little pieces of music that are excellent (you should check him out). Pogo-style remix for KSP, anyone?! :D

All but the Rapier are the same sound. There is no tune.

Any tune you might think to recognize is solely imaginary.

Meh, that's not entirely true. The RAPIER has a unique sound, but other engines also have subtly different engine noises. Here's my current best guess as to which engines make which noises:

All of the OSCAR-B-scale engines have a distinct noise, with the exception of the O-10 Monopropellant Engine.

All of the LV-T-scale engines have a distinct noise, except for the RAPIER engine and the SRBs.

All of the Jumbo-scale engines have a distinct noise, except for the one that was added in 0.23.5.

All of the things added after 0.23.5 (O-10, new large-ish engine cluster, really huge parts) have a distinct noise.

Besides, this thing isn't really meant to make beautiful (or even recognizable) music. It's merely a novelty that's a lot of fun to play with. Don't take it too seriously. :)
