My eyes hurt when I look directly at Kerbol

Maybe you have sensitive eyes, like me. I've been wearing darkened glasses outside since I was little, so I never got used to the brightness. I squint just looking in the general direction of the sun.

Doesn't happen to me in KSP though.

I've got very sensitive vision in the dark, so I, too, notice this. Then again, I'm the guy who comes home at 9 PM in the middle of winter and wanders throughout the house without thinking to turn lights on. I've worn sunglasses to deal with the sunset and forgotten to take them off until someone inevitably comments. And I have a lot of light being thrown at me. It's not so much the brightness of the sun, I think it's something to do with the intensity and color of the light with me.

I experience this as well, and I'm 100% sure it's because of the glare from Kerbol relative to the blackness of space around it. The same sort of glare you get when you have a monitor on max brightness in a dark room.

Yeah, Kerbol in the game is not bright enough to make you squint (unless you have a really bright monitor). I do it too, I think its down to being conditioned not to look at the sun, or to always squint when looking at something bright. And so when you look at it in game, your mind goes all "oh no, its a sun, better squint!"...

My monitor is part of a 2009 27 inch iMac. Is that a really bright monitor?

I think it was because my eyes were tired. woah i just randomly had a moment of remembering a dream omg

The room was well lit at the time. And I only squint when I'm really close into Kerbol (ie within Moho's SMA or closer). It's like a big white mass of white in low Kerbol orbit and I guess my eyes are trained to squint at. Wow I'm really tired right now.

Honestly, Kerbol shouldnt be any brighter than a word document, both are pretty much white on your screen.

Trying to make out details when on the dark side of the planet with a lot of screen glare (usually caused by the real sun shining on my screen) makes me squint until it hurts, but that is easily fixed by closing the curtains. :P
