I read on Wikipedia that NASA plan to send maned mission around Mum, oops i mean Moon

I hope that no one will screw it and mission will not be canceled.

I think that person who give honorary TLI call for astronaut should be someone from original Project Apollo astronaut or flight controllers, maybe Gene Kranz?

Well that is interesting. Looking at that two year old article makes me realize just how good the SLS program is doing ( though.. correct me if im wrong here ). The Orion is set to fly on a Delta-V Heavy in September for a high energy reentry akin to Apollo 4. Then the SLS is too fly in 2017 as stated. I have faith in NASA. If commercial companies can take over LEO NASA can focus its efforts more and more on BEO. Obama said himself awhile back that we should be launching Americans from American soil so the interest is there. And its better then its been in decades Id say.

The question is.. what to focus on? Other then the Orion capsule itself the SLS has no payload.. Do we go to the Moon? Mars? .. Asteroids? .. All of the above? A tough question. I for one am for a Moon base and an ARM. Mars.. I couldn't really care less for it at the moment. There is plenty to develop here in our own backyard. Save Mars for the 2050's I say.

But its the 2020's I look forward too the most.

Why not? The sooner we fly to Mars, the better.

If it NASA not cancelled the Apollo program, we would already have been on Mars.

yes, or rather "if NASA had not mortgaged the US space program to the Space Shuttle job machine we'd have been on Mars, have permanent moon and orbital bases, and a lot more".

The STS system was epic failure, the best proof of this is that the Orion capsule design is based on the Apollo capsule, and the SLS rocket i based on Saturn V.

Why does that make it an "epic failure"? There are many other reason for it to be a disaster.
