Out of curiosity, what telescope do you have?

I have a telescope myself, and are curious about your telescopes :)

Here's mine:

RhUpAoj.jpg

It's a Sky-Watcher Evostar (I think) 90mm refractor, 910mm focal length = f/10.

It's on a EQ2 mount, which I thought was an EQ2-3 mount... The shop owner tricked me :c

Tell me about yours, show a picture, maybe a little story? :)

I'll get some pictures up here when I get home, but I have a Celestron Astromaster 130EQ, a 130mm Newtonian Reflector. If tonight is clear, then I'll have a chance to test the camera mount I got the other day. If it's not clear, well, I still have some decent pictures.

I have a old telescope my mom got out of a yard sale a couple years back, for it's age, it still works pretty good. it's a Milben something something, it doesn't say the product name

That reminds me of my first scope, which my dad got me when he was on a shopping spree. Some cheap, horribly low quality thing that almost can't be called a scope... he got it for about 200NOK or something

I don't have one, could never get the money together and when I did I could never decide on a single telescope. If I did decide it was at least double the budget. It's a huge shame too, where I live there's absolutely no or very little light pollution (I could never tell, there isn't a glow on the horizon if that means anything) other than a few orange mercury lamps on power poles.

Right, here we go, my telescope:

£150. Add to that the £50 I spent on extra filters and eyepieces, plus the £25 on a camera mount, and this has turned out to be the second most expensive investment I've made thus far.

I really want to invest in a new telescope. Mines ok but i want more focal length. I observe planets far more than i do Deep space stuff. Plus more focal length would make taking pictures so much easier but i spend too much money on cars so I dont have any left for my poor telescope :( At least when i do get new scope all the eye pieces and filters I have invested in can just be used with the new one so I only have to pay for the scope itself. I think all my attachments probably cost more than the scope :D

That's an incredible pic of Jupiter! What's the specs on the scope? 130mm or 150mm?

A suggestion I got for astrophotography is to buy a zoom eyepiece which you can mount a DSLR camera with a T2 adapter, or buy an eyepiece projection tube (which I got) with the zoom eyepiece.

Also since you dont do deep space photographies, you could use more focal length. But if you decide to do DSO's, you DONT want the focal length. More correctly, the focal/aperture diameter ratio, commonly known as the f ratio.

My scope is f/10, which means its slow, but you get zoom... what did you use for the photography?

Sorry, only just seen the edit :D.

For that pic of jupiter I used a 2.5x barlowe and an orion web cam imager thingy

You will need a proper dslr or ccd for deep space stuff though. I much prefer the planets atm because they are easy to find and i just spend hours watching them and their moons move through the sky. For planets zoom/focal length is far more usefull than speed (f/10 etc) as the planets are plenty bright

Yea, I know that focal length is more usefull for visual observing and short exposure photos of bright objects, but for DSO's you rather want smaller focal lenght, or small aperture focal length ratio!

Is there an official astrophotograpy thread on the KSP forums? If there isn't, it needs one.

And my telescope is a Celestron NexStar 90SLT. Not high-powered at all, but it's my first modern telescope. Being able to seamlessly hook up my CANON to it is a joy. I hope to take it out during the upcoming lunar eclipse.

There was one somewhere a while ago of forum member pictures I will have a quick dig

[Edit]

Found quite a recent one.

I have the 10" dobsonian-mount reflector my dad built when I was little (30 years ago). Everything but the mirror was hand-built by him. The rubber parts in the eyepiece holder/focuser fell apart, so I need to replace it before I can use it again.

But even if it were operational I would need to drive at least an hour to get any dark skies.
