Multiple Copies of Minecraft?

I want to try out the Zeppelin Mod for Minecraft, along with some other mods that look interesting.

How do I create two or more copies of Minecraft, and install the mods on one of those copies? The goal here is to have a vanilla copy, and another for playing around with mods.

I don\'t think there is a way. I tried and it just overwrites default MC.

Maybe you could make another account on your computer... Or save the game on another place (disk). E.g. 1 on your HDD and one on your SSD.

backup your minecraft.jar file in app data

I use a mac but I think I copy the equivalent to your .minecraft folder. I then label the copies and switch the one I want to use to just minecraft. Hope this helps.

Just create two different .jar files and switch when needed. I have three different main ones and many old ones of outdated versions.

So, copy the .jar I have now, and install the mods onto the one that\'s still there. When I want to play legit, I put the normal .jar back in?

Thats what minecraft.jar is.
