the ion engine is way too OP

jeez again with this topic use the search function you'll see this has been brought up 1000 times already its the devs decision to make the game a game and not a simulator simple as that if you like a simulator I'm sure mods will be coming out to fill your niche

Does it really matter? Its not like you are going to be basing a fullon space agency off of KSP. it does incorporate SOME real life sciences (to the point it could nearly be classed as educational), but just take a look at the drag model in the first place.

KSP drag modelling is way from real life, and even FAR isn't a replica. The truth is, there is barely anything from real life that can be made a simulator. If it is made into a simulator, than people have spent TONS of hours not only researching the principles behind their simulator so that the simulation is accurate, but than they have to code it. Personally, I don't care about the ion engines thrust. In fact, I wish it was HIGHER so I didn't have to spend ages waiting for burns to other places, or so I could even whack it onto larger ships as auxiliary thrusters

I really don't get the fun in having to wait for a month real time for a burn. Each to their own though....

I'm glad about the ion buff as my time in KSP is quite limited atm.

Having used the new ion engines on an SSTE (single stage to Eve) I don't mind them, that being said as a personal gripe I really don't like that you can use them to launch a capsule off the Mün. Not something that can be fixed but still.

I didn't think you could even SSTO with the new ions, SSTE is most impressive.

It uses a jet engine to get to almost orbital velocity, in fact it is actually a replica of Macy Deans Dragonfly. There are a few pure ion SSTOs floating around the forums. There was a challenge also if I recall correctly. I have neither the partience nor skill to create a pure ion SSTO.
