Omega - Mass Effect 2/3

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

The last few days I've spent quite a bit of time to recreate Omega from the Mass Effect series, as the ARM update contained all the good stuff needed for this! Alas, I felt like I should share this with the community that has inspired me for so many other things in KSP.

After collecting a ~3000 ton E-class in an orbit around Kerbin I designed Omega to be shot up in 2 seperate parts:

Part 1: Connects to the asteroid with a Klaw. 1128 parts and 2935 ton prelaunch, 971 parts and 248 ton in orbit.

Part 2: Extension with living space (room for 122 kerbals) and (empty) fuel tanks. 472 parts and 3111 ton prelaunch, 280 parts and 487 ton in orbit.

Part 1 was pushed into place using a tug, while part 2 performed a rendezvous and docking on its own power. The part count lag was as you might understand quite horrible, but a bucket full of patience (and loads of RCS) helps a lot.

The finished product weighs in at a whopping 4041 ton (Asteroid included), with a part count of 1252 and a usefulness of 0.

If anyone else wants to recreate or just check out this behemoth I can upload the .craft files somewhere.

Also, if anyone feels like seeing all the explosive fails from launching this thing, I can add another imgur album. :P

Disclaimer:

Includes part count lag.

SSV Normandy and commander Shepard sold seperately.
