Duna and Mun Bases

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the info. (right click on the rover seats) that's what I was missing. To select between the base, rovers and Kerbals you use the [ and ] keys. No need to go back to the Space center.

One thing you may consider for your next version is putting canards on your big boosters. I was unable to get the ship to roll.

The base is permanent, so why redock the rovers?

Ahh I did not know that! I'll have to remember that, cheers :D

I found it was somewhat of a pain to roll, but if you have even minimal thrust the vectoring on the engines was just enough for maneuvering. The booster stage does need significant upgrading though, yea.

The logic with redocking the rovers is to reset the Goo and Science for moving on to a new biome :D Not really relevant on Duna yet, but certainly on Mun. Also, those Gigantor panels recharge the rover batteries a lot quicker than the built in panels, but thats less relevant really.

OK, don't know anything about the Goo and Science. I'm still just building and exploring in the sandbox. :>)

I thought the boosters were fine except for the roll.

Tomorrow I will see if I can't put my ship and rover close to the base.

This a bigger rover on a one-way to Laythe

I just tried my rover lander this morning. They don't launch with this new upgrade! I tried a few. Sorry about that! I never tried them after the upgrade... I think it is just a matter of replacing the boosters. I'm going to try that.

Yeah, I just tried some new boosters and it launched fine, no shaking. I'm going to have to rework these...

I'm trying to come up with a better planet then Minmus to put your Base along with a bunch of other ships. I would like the view of a gas giant.

Natasha is a pretty cool planet but I would have to relocate it. That's easy enough to do. It's just a matter of where to put it...

Ooo let me know how you get on! Which ones Natasha? :D I've only ever landed on the nearest planets, Eve and Duna. I'd love to go to further out ones, maybe stick this base on Laythe, but I'm not sure my accuracy for maneuvers is quite there yet.

Natasha is in the Boris system;

I moved Natasha into the Sentar system very close to the Skelton orbit. I will put your base on both planets. Natasha with no atmosphere and Skelton with an atmosphere. Both planets have a great view of Sentar! Should make it more interesting. I also converted the second stage of my rover lander into a tanker. I will take a picture later.
