I have been playing KSP since 0.19, but have put off joining the forum for who-knows-what  . The point is that I know KSP, but kind of struggle with the whole plan your missions thing. I'm more like a blow things up and get bored with Mun missions because you forgot the flag. Anyone know how to actually plan a mission? I would love to know a good method. :D

Knowing the delta v requirements for getting to places is a big help. It takes around 4,500 m/s to get orbit for instance, 900 to break free of Kerbin and then 2,700 or so to get to Jool. These things I got from playing the game too much but there is a map of these values ssomewhere as well.

You need a mission goal, return from Duna, land on 3 of Jool's moon's and return, rove in a buggy on Eve etc.

Then you need to build with a certain amount of delta v for each stage and then go do it. You may find mechjeb or the engineer redux mighty useful here.

Good luck, check out my blog entries if you fancy some inspiration. See under my avatar on the left there.

Hi and Welcome.

The can't be forgot, it goes with Kerbin's. There are a lot of ways to go to mun, even without planing. I in most cases, do the try and error, and that is a little hard in the beginning, but if you search youtube, will have a lot of helps to start easier.

I long time, try and error make you learn in practice, what for is is a great thing.

So, planing or not, do your missions.

But if you wanna a little help in Delta-V and so on, install MechJeb(1), and take a look in this thread(2) and table.

I just saw the amount of replies! I was impressed by how much you care about newcomers. Well I've made a few ships to go to planets but have ditched the missions due to 'minor' problems (Like forgetting solar panels or enough fuel to get into orbit, you know, minor things). Most of my missions have been in Kerbin's sphere of influence, like Mun or Minmus. But I shall put these tips to use! Thanks for the support. Next stop Jool Five!
