Actual Space Kraken

From Space Arm

This grabbing device really added a whole new level of gameplay here... Now I'm imagining a battle between 2 mechanical space krakens, with space arms for tentacles, in a future multiplayer KSP server... I love this game :>

Space Kraken you say?

This thing. . . Lags so bad. Had to turn my graphics way down to handle it. Had to use hack gravity/infinite fuel to get it into orbit. In theory it isn't that heavy but I didn't want to wait for an hour as it launched at 5 FPS. Oddly enough I found out that toggling the grabbers once will actually majorly boost your frame rate. Weird.

If you want to mess around with it this is the craft file: The Kraken Mk II

Control groups:

1: Toggle Grabbers (accept the last ones)

2: Decouple All Nodes

3: Eject Center Column (you will probably need to delete it to get rid of it though)

4: Toggle NERVAs

5: Toggle Liquid Engines

6: Toggle Solar Panels

7: Toggle Main Body ASAS Units

8: Toggle End Claws

9: Release End Grapples (won't actually work in practice)

To use get it into space, then begin accelerating and arm grabbers. While accelerating decouple the nodes, allow the arms to fall into place, kill engines and eject the center column. The column may get stuck, you might need to delete it to get rid of it. Now you can release all the pivots and start moving the arms. Once you get them going they will flail around like mad. Enable SAS if you want them to keep going like crazy. Disable the main ASAS units if you don't want the ship to spin. Open the panels if you want to avoid losing power.
