SLS to the mun!

Very basic challenge - get to the Mun and back.

Ok, it's not that simple. You need to land on the Mun with the new SLS styled parts for propulsion. No other forms of propulsion is allowed (RCS is allowed, but let's face it - you're only going to need it for control and that's all it's allowed for). Only one docking is allowed - whether it's a rescue mission or something that resembles the constellation mission. If you choose the second one, then a rescue mission is not allowed.

SCORING:

-You'll start off with 5,000 points

-You get 100 more points for every kerbal you bring

-Plating a flag will get you another 10 points

-Getting a cool screenshot will get you a judged amount of points (the cooler, the better)

-For every hour after launch, you loose 100 points

-A rescue mission will add to your overall time

-If you don't return, then for every kerbal that has to suffer, you loose 200 points

-Any cheats will cost you 100 points.

I know it's not the best challenge ever, but I thought it would be 'Ok-ish'. I have managed to get to the mun using only SLS parts, however I did not manage to return. I will put my own entry in when I've managed to return. If you have any suggestions, do say.

"Any cheats will cost 100 points". Then why don't I cheat if the penalty is so low? Why even allow it?

I think cheating is allowed because the honour you lose is not 100 points, nor is it 1000. It is impossible to measure. Like human lives. You don't murder and you don't cheat. Both will send you to hell (at a route passing through Reading and Clapham Junction). If I misunderstood the spirit of the challenge I do apologise.

If I were, to say, build an apollo-like mun mission with SLS parts as the lift stage, and then lock all the fuel tanks and build a still larger SLS part only lifter and lander to put that whole Apollo mission (lifter, transfer stage, and all) on the munar surface, would that be okay?

If I understand it right, you're putting multiple modules together for a munar mission. As I said, only 1 docking is allowed. So you can do it, but only if you do it with two modules - a lander and transfer stage (one docking). If I misunderstood, then just try and rephrase it and I'm sorry if I did.

I would recommend rewriting the Cheat Penalty to no cheats at all.

So, SLS engines (+rcs) to the Mun, Kerbals, time penalties, death penalties?

Easy.

Here is the friday night Party Bus heading out to have some fun at their favorite nightclub, The Crater.

75 Kerbals (including designated driver, Rosy Kerbal. Did you know there were female Kerbals? Either that, or Rosy's parents were exceptionally cruel!)

Round trip time, not including the party itself: 5h51m22s (it is the Friday trip, after all. the Saturday trip departs 8 minutes later)

Engines used: S3 KS-25x4 Engine Cluster. a couple.. 25 i think

and Kerbodyne KR-2L Advanced Engine, 2.

plus a couple RCS , mostly for balance on landing..

Score: 5000 (start) + 100*75 + 10(flag) - 6*100(time) = 11910

Screenshot? Shrugs. I *had* planned to have them spell out "Party Time" in Kerbals on the Mun surface, with the colored lights makign colored letters.

Unfortunately, it seems that rendering 75 Kerbals kinda breaks my pc! I only managed to unload 63, when framerate went below 1 frame for 10 seconds. No, not 10 frames per second, 1 per 10 seconds!
