OVERVIEW

My previous career run was deleted from Twitch by their new Amazonian Overlords. Sadly I had only created a few random highlights and that is all that remains:

Spaceplane Intro, Cloudy Landing, Munar Shipyard & Orbital Station, Kethane Rig Deployment, Spaceplane Cargo Recovery

Second stream is up.

This episode: bit of tinkering in the VAB, launch of new crew shuttle, return of lander from Mun, rendezvous with shuttle, deadly re-entry of shuttle. science acquired, profit!

Incidentally the lander is usually capable of deadly re-entry itself but I knew I was going to be testing the shuttle anyway, so I left the lander's shield at home. The lander has been left in orbit for future use.

Today's (Tuesday) stream will involve lifting a station core, a solar array and some escape pods. Starting 20:00 GMT.

UPDATE: Had to abandon this one due to an issue with an associated mod (Universal Storage). The station will probably have to wait until this is updated.

Smelter arrival stream in the next hour.

I was beginning to get stability issues due to memory use so I've done the basic version of the Active Texture Management mod. Seems to have saved me about 650MB. The temptation now is to add a load more stuff but I shall be disciplined! Hoping to at least add some of the B9 parts to build some space planes.

Delivery of new inflatible habitats prior to the arrival of the workshop. Things started to get a bit laggy last night so I'm going to try moving the shipyard further south so it doesn't load in with the Kethane mine.

Decided not to move the shipyard yet as the lag isn't that noticeable. The workshop may change all that :)

Yes it's getting a bit laggy now... with the launchpad, two habitats, a KAS carrier, the drilling rig, the smelter and the workshop, plus all the Kethane ships in switching range it's a bit much. Will try and move something soon.

Had a problem with the Workshop in that an Engineer Redux part was blocking the hatch, so I'll have to edit this out. Also seems to be a problem with the inflatible cetrifuges on my interplanetary ships in that it is saying they are full when they are not. Another one to bug report.

Long stream tonight and many questions answered. If you are following me and want to know more please post in this thread, it's not just for my announcements.

Clearly an issue with my mic at times. It's a very good mic so it's probably something to do with the bit-rate or how much of my bandwidth is left over after streaming it at a certain rate. Will look into it.

Didn't go entirely to plan. Forgot to empty the smelter and it was too heavy... crashed and burned. Happily the launchpad is now safely installed where I want it and I have enough rocket parts in a toppled container to make another smelter. So... epic success! *coughs*

And.... back.

During the hiatus I've been re-learning how to build and fly outsized spaceplanes and I now have a new one in service: The 'Delta V'. This uses the B9 pack with traditional jet engines and a rocket rather than sabres or rapiers, mostly because I didn't like the resulting weight distribution with the latter. It can carry 50+ tons into low orbit. Naturally I'm still using all the realism mods, including FAR. Under my new austerity rules this is the only vehicle I'll be using to lift stuff from Kerbin.

On the Mun there is a new tanker for ferrying fuel from my Kethane mine to the Shipyard, allowing me to move four times as much fuel in one go. The first of several Greenhouses lifted by spaceplane are en route to the Munar station and bases to make the TAC life support self-sustaining. The atomic propulsion sections used in these Munar transits will form part of my next interplanetary mission to be assembled at the station. I'm operating under the additional restriction that only basic parts should be buildable on the Mun... creating greenhouse plants from Munar ore would have been preposterous. :)

I also did a landing on Moho that produced plenty of science but has left two kerbals stranded with a disabled craft (I ran out of fuel 100 meters from touchdown, broke the legs and toppled over). In theory I could probably save them with some KAS jiggery-pokery and many, many trips to ferry fuel up to the interplanetary stage... if I can secure enough alcohol it will happen.

The spare lander orbiting Kerbin was refuelled and sent out to Minmus to mop up the last of the biomes. Having completed two landings and topped up on Kethane it will return to Kerbin in the next stream. A few thousand more science should complete the tech tree at which point I shall re-install KSP Interstellar to extend the challenge.

I should be streaming later today and/or this evening. Will post a 30 minute warning.
