The new segments will probably have fewer parts, maybe just the attachment nodes, the pillars and a fuel tank.

Unless you're talking about abandoning the thread, then that seriously isn't the attitude you should have towards building this awesome monstrosity. You should do it because you want to do it, not to gain the approval of the forums.

its seems getting no attention for a whole 24hrs is just not acceptable for some...

That to an aside it is an interesting idea but there are a fair few others posted previously

I wish my laptop could handle a space dock....and a IP ship.

Mine can, but I doubt yours is built like mine (I threw portability and battery life out the window to be able to run Planetside 2 on 'high'). The gantry structure alone was nearly 700 parts (not including the roughly 300 parts worth of modules that had to be docked to it). Welding that and making my modules more efficient got the entire station under 300. Now, it still can't accommodate one of my Sentari class ships (dem biggins) both because it won't fit in the gantry and because a Sentari is usually 500+ pieces and that meeting of giants would slaughter my CPU. Now, some of my other IP ships can fit in the gantry and dock. My Exodus class exploration ships can fit within there and not cause too much lag (after the probe bay is added, which jumps the part count significantly). Rule of thumb for space dock building: When in doubt, weld it. It WILL save your CPU multiple times.

Found a way to add pillars:

Thankfully each pillar is only 5 parts since it doesn't need RCS, the tug does all the magic.
