Saving rocket so that pods are unoccupied

Recommended Posts

I have a few rockets that contain small pods to fit a kerbal in them, but i have to keep removing them before launch and a lot of times I forget. Then kerbals keep popping in my rocket at launch. Is it a way I can keep them out automatically?

Launch by clicking the pad in the Space Centre scene rather than directly from the VAB/SPH. That presents a list of your saved ships and when you click one it shows the crew places and Kerbals to the right. They're keen to go so you have to kick the buggers out every time but at least that way you won't forget.

Otherwise stowaways are something we all have to deal with :-(

Saving the crew has it's own drawbacks too...

I think it simply needs a popup when you hit launch in the VAB/SPH. And maybe that popup can have a empty & full buttons and the ability to assign just like the crew tab. If you double-click on launch, it just uses the previous saved values.

Double-click meaning 'launch this like last time' I like Claw. Maybe single-click should mean 'I want to launch something, so show me the menu', ie; the one you get by clicking on the pad/runway?

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Maybe I'll post it as a suggestion if it's not already up. :)

I've been having the opposite problem- I have a single-seat capsule and a science lab. I want to take 2 more kerbals in the science lab, and they don't get saved automatically. I have to re-kerb the lab for every launch.

Hmm interesting. Could I use the Sci Lab as my first capsule, and pop a probe core on it for control? Then it would auto-kerb my lab?

Answering my own question here- I pulled out just a lander can in the VAB, and put it on the launch pad. It didn't come with any Kerbals.
