Navball-docking-alignment-indicator

Recommended Posts

The one thing which realy should be added to the (stock) game is a navball docking alignment indicator such as developed by mic_e (see Navball-docking-alignment-indicator-v2.

Docking without it is very, very difficult. Often players use Mechjeb to get two crafts docked. With such an indicator there is no (longer) a need to use Mechjeb for docking. The indicator makes docking possible, even for players just starting with KSP. As such i consider it to be an essential element in the game and highly reccommend adding this feature to the game.

I wouldn't mind seeing such a thing implemented. I currently do my docking with just the yellow and purple indicators already included in Target mode, but it means i'm on my own when it comes to proper alignment or when aiming for a docking port that's significantly offset from the center of mass.

I'm one who "grew up on" docking manually, and can do it most of the time without incident. I'd say just doing it the old-fashioned way a few times could have you up to scratch, and I'm not entirely certain that such a thing should/will be stock-implemented.

If you have two well-designed ship within 200m of each other, you shouldn't have too much trouble if you know the navball well, and if you take your time.

It's not that difficult. Either point both ships at each other or point one of them at North before going for docking. Or maybe eyeball it. Either option is easy if you have spacial vision. But it will be a nice feature.

I agree that docking using stock game is not difficult. It turns difficult - or uncomfortable - if the docking port you use as control is not aligned with root part and the target indicator goes its own way.

But I still think this addition would improve the game experience.
