Best Picture Editor?

So i've been making logos for companies, and micorsoft paint just isn't cutting it. Any suggestions on a really good picture editor?

I prefer GIMP because it is free. Photoshop is probably the better product if u use it proffesionally....

Photoshop, no question about it. Corel Draw is very good too.

I use open source Gimp.

Edit: if you know how to use Photoshop, you know how to use Gimp. Similar interfaces.

Thank you all who suggested so far. I tried paint.net but its confusing and i cant figure out how to do what i want with it. Will try gimp soon, if nothing else guess ill have to buy photoshop.

GIMP is my choice. Free, and not superdooply complicated.

Before forking out money for Photoshop you should have a look at Gimp, in principle that can do everything Photoshop does for free. ;-)

Since you mention logo design in your first post you should maybe look into vector drawing software too. The expensive choice here is obvious Corel Draw, but there's a very capable free solution as well called Inkscape, that you should try first. (www.inkscape.org)

I found Inkscape an absolute pain to use, so much so that I bought omniGraffle.

I second Inkscape, it's a very capable program for vector design. If GIMP isn't your thing, paint.net is free as well
