Mobile Crane

Recommended Posts

Here is a mobile crane I made to look like the Lego set by the same name. Unfortunately, that's about all it does - looks cool. For lifting anything, it is pretty much useless. :(

Its top speed is about 34 m/s, but DO NOT take turns faster than 10 m/s... it has a bad habit of flipping over and exploding. Also, be VERY careful going down hills, as the back end sometimes breaks off and explodes.

I've made one of these before with LLL. It could lift anything but itself.. it was heavy!

So basically I should load it down with tons of weight and it might actually be useful? Also, how do I keep the boom from bouncing and swaying so much? Every time I move it, the whole thing bounces all over the place. I know it has to be due to the joint on the turntable, but I don't know of any other things that will work for this purpose.

Try Quantum Struts. They helped me create foldable compact planes.

The weight will help for tipping. As for the boom, try editing the "joints" to be heavier. I.E the rotarons and stuff. Apparently a heavier docking port is a stronger docking port (as long as it weighs more than whats its connected to), so it might work here.

Yes, I've noticed. I have since replaced the main turntable with the big rotatron and I now have outriggers inspired by oh6frr's image. It looks even cooler, but sadly it still can't lift the weight I'm testing with (two orange tanks attached together, total 76 tons)
