Today i learned that escape Towers make really good 1 use VTOLs

I was messing around in sand box today trying to make something using the new escape towers. When i suddenly had the urge to make a VTOL that could go from full flight to a stop in a few seconds then take off vertically.

Its only a VTOL if it can LAND vertically also.

I would called it more of an assisted take off, especially the first one.

Oh and your thread title is misspelled to VTLO.

it can do a completely vertical take off the first one is just meant to help it off the ground. for the vertical landing part i don't see how that is not one. I am also aware of the error in the title but im not sure i can fix it.

thanks . It was actually really hard to make it so that it would not blow up when i fired the escape towers.

It's actually a Short Takeoff, but I'm sure those launch escape towers will help us get those planes in the air that can't pitch up from the runway.

That was awesome man, especially the part where it jumped off the top of the VAB . It reminds me of the JATO rocket assisted version of the C-130 for short takeoffs and landings.

I tried my own attempt at a VTOL plane. It didn't work, the jet engines would shut down when the trying the vertical landing part.

Have you tried adding some rear-facing inlets. Forward-facing inlets won't work very well when the plane is moving backwards.

that is what i based it on. But i wanted to see if i could do a instant stop.
