This is my secondary shots of the ship in the configuration to pass through the gate.

Its in 2 Pieces (Cockpit and Rear at the moment so you can build it in KSP). Docking port and Extendable drive pods to follow

If you can make this a one-piece component... I would outfit ALL my long-range vessels with these. Any plans for the engine? In the show, they had SSTO capability, with fuel to spare.

I'm still working on this I'm working on the engine pods (I'm not really good at the animations so I'm having to learn how to do it).

Use multiple MODEL nodes with appropriate position and rotation.

If possible:

Openable rear end, with custom Kerbal seats that can be added or removed, making a cargo version or a shuttle both possible.

I wonder if its possible to make make a plugin that makes a Stargate function as a stargate. ie. A kerbal walks through a stargate at KSC then walks out he otherside on say laythe where a second stargate was previously landed by the player.
