When will SM4 shaders come out? And what would they look like?

The HLSL/GLSL goes up to 5.0 right now

SM4 is basically ~DX10/OpenGL3.3 level feature set, it's 'major' step up from SM3 was geometry shaders, I think, where you could tessellate and shade the resultant interpolated geometry.

I guess what they look like depends on the skill of the shader programmer!

Incidentally, if you know C, you can probably get to grips with GLSL, and here is a site that you might like to play with. Even if not, it at least somewhat answers the question of how shaders work at the software level.
